(Île de la Barthelasse — Avignon, France 2010)
My name is Rachel. I graduated in March 2012 from the Honors Tutorial College and E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University with a degree in journalism and another major in French.
Throughout my time in college, God really captivated my heart for Himself. Though I’ve been a believer for most of my life, I didn’t understand what it meant to truly follow Jesus. I am just a broken sinner, but I’ve been redeemed by His saving grace. Not by my doing, but only through God’s gift of Jesus. So, now, I’m venturing through the journey God has laid out for me, and I’m learning what it means to walk by faith and walk in His grace. And what an adventure!
My parents raised me with a love for and ability to travel, experiencing new cultures, and meeting new people. And college was a time for me to cultivate that even further. I had the opportunity to take mission trips to France and South Asia, study abroad in France, do thesis research in Morocco, and travel through Iceland, Scandinavia, and Northern Europe with my brother. Through all of this, the Lord allowed me to see these places and people with His eyes, using it to plant and grow the desire of world missions in my heart.
Last year, I served as an intern with Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) at Ohio University. This year, I’m continuing my work with Cru, but now in Ljubljana, Slovenia! I have a heart for discipling and leading women and getting to be a part of what God is doing in the lives of students.
I’ve started this blog as an outlet to share what God is doing in my heart and share stories and experiences. My hope is for this blog to provide encouragement for you, and to also learn from you.
